Adilabad: Fingerprint checking system to help cops
Automated system to keep track of offenders everywhere.
Adilabad: Now, online fingerprints of criminals are likely to haunt them wherever they go and restrict their movements.
Police of Kumarambheem Asifabad and Adilabad districts are in the process of introducing automated fingerprint identification system to trace people having criminal background before they commit new crimes.
These new devices will work using Russian technology. Experts from Russia are giving 10-day training to district police fingerprints experts at Central Crime Station (CCS), CID office, Hyderabad and the trained police experts, in turn, will give training to the local police in the districts.
N. Markandeya, fingerprint expert of Adilabad district, is undergoing training in Hyderabad.
Fingerprint mobile devices and live scanners are being supplied to the district police and police will use these new devices during their patrolling, especially in the night time.
With the help of these devices, the police collect the fingerprints of unknown or persons moving in suspicious circumstances online on the spot.
Kumarambheem Asifabad district superintendent of police Sunpreet Singh said, “Property offences are on the rise and with the help of new technology, the police can control crime.”
He added that they were supplying 17 mobile fingerprints live scanning devices to the police stations in the district.
The police can track the record of the accused with their fingerprints on the spot with the latest technology.
Details of the accused will appear on the screen of the device if the suspect’s fingerprints match with the existing database of fingerprints of offenders.
Most of the times, the police come across offenders and they escape on the benefit of doubt.
Earlier, police used to collect fingerprints of property offenders manually and send those to the central database in Hyderabad.
Adilabad SP M. Srinivas said: “Now the police are collecting the fingerprints of all the accused they remand to the court so that they can track the offenders and control crime on the spot.”
