The NGO urged the court to intervene in the matter and direct the government to release the funds.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has taken up a letter as PIL written by Senior Citizens, an NGO seeking, intervention of the court in releasing funds to the Osmania General Hospital.
The NGO brought to the notice of the court that many of the buildings constructed during the Nizam’s rule were presently in a dilapidated condition and though the state government announced Rs 200 crore for the restoration of the buildings in the OGH almost a year ago, till date only Rs 6 crore were released for the restoration work.
The NGO informed the court that patients and their attendants visiting the OGH were not only from TS and other areas of the erstwhile Nizam’s state have been facing severe hardships and certain portions of the main old building of the OGH have already collapsed.
The NGO submitted that the plans for restoration were already prepared by the departments concerned, but the authorities are not in a position to commence work due to non-release of the sanctioned funds.
