Relocate excess horses, staff, minister Mahesh to Mysore race club
The issue of non renewal of licence by the government for 131 acres of prime land of Mysore race course, is still pending.
Mysuru: Sericulture and Tourism Minister Mr Sa Ra Mahesh, who visited the Mysore Race Club (MRC) premises on Sunday, said that he will eliminate all the alleged irregularities at the Mysore Race Course. He set a deadline of three months for Mysuru city corporation (MCC) officers to remove 600 unauthorised buildings at the premises.
The issue of non renewal of licence by the government for 131 acres of prime land of Mysore race course, is still pending. “While there are 600 horses and three caretakers for each horse, as many as1,800 caretakers, are residing in temporary sheds at the MRC premises. But the permission is for housing 110 horses. We have given directions to the MCC officers to relocate the excess horses and the caretakers too,” Mr Mahesh said.
This is his third visit to inspect the MRC since he became minister. During his first visit, he had said that there is a proposal to relocate MRC to the outskirts of the city and use the land for public purposes, most probably for a botanical garden.
