Hyderabad: The Telangana HC on Monday issued notices to the state Home Secretary, DGP, Commissioners of  Rachakonda and Warangal and district collector of Ranga Reddy directing them to respond to the contentions of the petitioner Mr. U. Sambasiva Rao, Social Activist and  Coordinator of the  Telangana State Bahujan Resistance Forum, on the failure of the Police and State administration in curtailing honour killings in Telangana.

The Bench headed by Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and  Justice Sham-eem Akhter issued notices to give an explanation in three weeks by filing an affidavit.

The petitioner informed the court that 36 honour killings occurred in different parts of Telangana State, but the police and state administration utterly failed in containing those honour killings. The victims of honour killings hailed from backward classes SC, ST, and OBC, he added.

The counsel for the petitioner submitted that even though the victims prior to the killings approached the police, their pleas were ignored.
