Speculations Rife Over CM Jagan's Visit to Delhi

Update: 2023-07-02 18:30 GMT

Vijayawada: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and some Union ministers in New Delhi on July 5 to seek funds and resolve some of the long-pending issues of AP.

The chief minister will leave for New Delhi on July 4 evening and meet the PM the next day. Speculations are that Jagan Reddy would renew his support to the NDA amid attempts for formation of an anti-BJP front by various opposition parties.

The CM would be leaving for New Delhi soon after his Tirupati tour. He will also meet home minister Amit Shah and other Union ministers including Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Shekawat and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The CM’s meeting with top BJP leaders assumes significance, in the wake of the recent meeting of BJP national president JP Nadda in Visakhapatnam. He had made wild allegations against the YSRC government, describing it as being very corrupt. Also, the BJP is readying for alliance with the Telugu Desam led by Chandrababu Naidu for the coming elections. But, soon after Nadda’s visit to AP, the local BJP leaders have started attacking the TD and Naidu with a new vehemence.

Naidu had met Amit Shah and Nadda in Delhi in May leading to speculations that the BJP might have an alliance with the TD. This is quite unlikely, given the present mood in the BJP. Naidu’s campaigns against PM Modi and the BJP before the 2019 polls are still fresh in the top BJP leaders’ minds. Naidu too has gone silent on the alliance proposal.

The BJP central leadership feels the YSRC is a more reliable partner to them than Naidu.
