Hyderabad: The Bhongir Fort atop the monolithic rock, 50 km from here, will soon have a cable car. The government, through the TS Tourism Development Corporation, has finally called for expression of interest from experienced cable operators for the Rs 5 crore passenger aerial ropeway.

The corporation has set August 16 as the deadline for submission of EoIs.

“We expect the project to be completed in a year. It will be bigger than the one in Srisailam,” said Mr N. Ganga Reddy,  TDC superintending engineer.

While it takes about an hour to reach the fort, the ropeway will carry passengers in 5 to six minutes. The  lower station will be housed on a 2.36-acre site with food courts and amenities.
