Discharge duties as per law: Kiran Bedi
The grievance cell of Raj Nivas will now make review visits to all places visited during the last 94 weekend rounds.
Puducherry: Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi exhorted government officials to function courageously within the framework of law. “It is your responsibility as senior bureaucrats to be bold to discharge duties as per rule of law and record opinions within the four corners of the law,” said Ms Bedi at her month-end release issued here.
The grievance cell of Raj Nivas will now make review visits to all places visited during the last 94 weekend rounds. The review visits will help to get a feedback on the prevailing situation, views of the public and response of officials concerned.
Pending service matters including issues related to promotion, seniority and confirmation may be expedited and settled.
The Lt Governor proposed to review service matters, department wise, in September and hence each department should clear backlogs by the end of August.
Ms Bedi also suggested steps to resolve all land grabbing complaints and streamline water resources here before the next northeast monsoon.
Pondy Lt gov makes surprise visit to school after complaint

The main complaint was that students run away from the school and only one third of the boys passed last year. A written feedback was collected from students in which all the students rated the school as 'very bad', an official release said. The post of principal, vice principal and several posts of teachers are vacant. Even available teachers do not teach properly, the students complained. Lack of infra was also mentioned by the students.
