Hyderabad High Court vacates stay on test for lecturer posts

A single judge stayed the written test while dealing with a petition challenging the notification issued by the TSPSC in June this year.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday vacated the interim stay granted on a written test for recruitment of posts of lecturers in government residential degree colleges for women in TS with only woman candidates.

A division bench comprising Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice G. Shyam Prasad was dealing with an appeal by the TS government challenging an interim order granted by a single judge on July 17, 2017 staying the written test scheduled on July 30 for recruitment of 546 lecturers in government residential degree colleges for women.

A single judge stayed the written test while dealing with a petition challenging the notification issued by the TSPSC in June this year. 

TS A-G D. Prakash Reddy told the bench that the state government was empowered take a decision on recruiting only women in institutions meant for them and cited the verdict of the Supreme Court in the case of Ms Vijaylakshmi versus Punjab University.
