Telangana: 'Kaleswaram Irrigation Project' to get power supply in time

The minister said that the pumping stations of the Kaleswaram Irrigation Project would begin functioning from June 2018 onwards.

Hyderabad: D. Prabhakar Rao, a managing director and chairman of TS Transco, has assured irrigation minister T. Harish Rao that power will be supplied to the Kaleswaram Irrigation Project within the stipulated deadline. 

The minister held discussions with officials from the irrigation and energy departments on Tuesday. He said that the pumping stations of the Kaleswaram Irrigation Project would begin functioning from June 2018 onwards. He asked the Energy Department to make arrangements for the supply of power by that time. The Minister said that Irrigation Projects, including the Kaleswaram, would require 12,500 MW power. He said that by December 2017, the construction of pump houses of the sixth and eighth packages of the Kaleswaram Project would be completed. 

The minister asked energy officials to shift the 220 KV, 132 KV and 33 KV lines which went over the Medigadda, Annaram, Sundilla barrages and pump houses, and reservoirs in Rangareddy district. He said the HT lines should not hinder the progress of Irrigation Projects. He said the HT lines and towers would be shifted immediately. He also asked for the construction of 10 sub-stations to be completed by March 2018. He asked for the construction of six 400 KV sub-stations, three 220 KV sub-stations and two 132 KV sub stations to be speeded up.
