Bengaluru: CM office nod awaited for Kempegowda award date
We will not budge to any pressure. We have also placed limited orders for the mementos, he said.
Bengaluru: Even though the political crisis has come to an end, there is no sign of the prestigious Kempegowda day celebration. Every year, the BBMP observes Kempegowda Day with fanfare in honour of the founder of Bengaluru - Kempegowda.
Due to the political instability, the award function which was scheduled to be held on July 23 was put on hold.
“We were confused on whose appointment we should get to proceed with the function. Owing to the political developments then, we had put on hold the function” said a BBMP source.
He added that all applications for the awards will be scrutinized by experts from specific field. Now, we are in touch with the chief minister B S Yediyurappa’s office to get his appointment to fix the date for holding the function. Once we get it, then everything will fall in place, he said.
Unlike the previous year where the awards were announced and given on spot to hundreds of people without any scrutiny, this year, we are not going to cross 100 awards at any cost, the source said.
We will not budge to any pressure. We have also placed limited orders for the mementos, he said.
Tentatively the function will be held before the second week of August based on chief minister’s appointment.
