Charminar, Afzalgunj get inundated

Hyderabad: The Old City on Thursday received the highest quantum of rainfall with 14mm of rainfall being recorded in Qutubullapur that resulted in the inundation of the surrounding low-lying areas.
While Charminar received around 11mm of rainfall, much to the locals’ chagrin, the area got flooded with rain water. A similar situation was seen in the Afzalgunj fruit market. In the Old City, Asifnagar, Nampally, Bahadurpura too recorded rains.
Meanwhile, light to moderate showers were seen in other parts of the city areas such as Uppal, Shaikpet, Malkajgiri, Alwal, Khairatabad, Musheerabad and Secunderabad. However, most parts of the city, which witnessed short spells of rain through out the day, had cloudy sky for most parts of the day. Water stagnation was also reported at multiple areas.

The IMD predicts that the cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers is likely to continue for the next four days.
