Election Commission orders polls for 4 MLC seats

The members of the respective Legislative Assemblies would elect the MLCs under the MLAs quota.

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India has decided to hold byelections to three MLC seats in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and one MLC seat to the Telangana Legislative Council.

The members of the respective Legislative Assemblies would elect the MLCs under the MLAs quota.

Polls for all the MLC seats will be conducted on August 26 and results will be declared on the same day. The election notification will be released on August 7.
Three MLC seats fell vacant in AP as Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy, Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas and Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy have resigned from their respective posts on June 6.

The MLC bypoll in Telangana was necessitated due disqualification of K. Yadava Reddy on January 16 this year. The poll notification will be released on August 7, last of filing nominations will be on August 14 and the last date for withdrawal will be on August 19.
