Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday complimented senior bureaucrats for the enhanced inter-department coordination, which helped the Government tide over the crisis wrought by the unprecedented floods.

In his 40-minute address to the officers, led by Chief Secretary Tom Jose and State Relief Commissioner P H Kurian, Mr Vijayan sought more cooperation and commitment from his team for rebuilding the State. He said most often Government projects had suffered owing to the lack of inter-department coordination. This time the officers were able to leave rivalries and minor issues behind them and render exemplary humanitarian assistance to the people.

Mr Vijayan, scheduled to leave for the US on Tuesday for a two-week treatment, also thanked the officers who had used their overseas connections in getting positive international response to the State's needs in its hour of crisis.

He said the Government would utilize services offered by international professional service companies such as KPMG for the rebuilding mission. Inputs from these agencies would be canalised for a coordinated action by the Government.

Mr Jose thanked the Chief Minister for his effective leadership, which helped the team to function with maximum efficiency and commitment.
