Kozhikode: Leptospirosis claims 3 more

Kozhikode: Leptospirosis has claimed three more lives on Saturday. As many as 17 more suspected cases were reported. Among the suspected cases on Friday, 26 cases had turned out to be positive.

The deceased have been identified as Andy (60) of Meppayil, Vadakara, Shivadasan (61) of Mukkam and Krishnan of Pokunnu in Kozhikode. Of this, Andy's death has been confirmed of leptospirosis.

As on Saturday, the disease has resulted in the death of 13, of which four cases are confirmed. More than 60 suspected cases have been found in the district.

“The distribution of leptospirosis-resistant drug has been commenced at all government health centres. Pregnant women, allergic-patients and kids under-8 should consult the doctor before taking the medicine,” said District Medical Officer Dr V. Jayashree.
