Consecration of Woriyur Sri Vaishnavite temple
The chief priest of the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, Sri Sundar Bhattar, poured the holy water on the ‘Kalasams’ .
TIRUCHY: The ‘Mahasamprokshanam (consecration)’ of Goddess Kamalavalli Nachiyar temple, one of the 108 Divya Desam temples and a sub-shrine of Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam, was performed at Woriyur in Tiruchy town on Sunday, in which thousands of devotees took part.
Among others, State Tourism minister Vellamandi Natarajan and his cabinet colleague, Ms. Valarmathi, the HR&CE joint commissioner and temple executive officer P. Jayaraman, participated in the function marked by traditional fervour.
The chief priest of the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, Sri Sundar Bhattar, poured the holy water on the ‘Kalasams’ atop the temple tower and performed the consecration.
According to Mr. Jayaraman, ahead of the Mahasamprokshanam, renovation works to the tune of about Rs One crore were carried out in the temple.
Elaborate police bandobast was arranged under supervision of assistant commissioners of Police Mr. Sundaramoorthy (Goldenrock), Mr. Ramachandran (Srirangam).
