Election Commission to seek help for verification
The CEO said that a person born prior to January 1, 2001, can apply in advance for the voter enrolment.
Hyderabad: The State Election Commission for the first time decided to involve residential welfare associations in the door-to-door verification as part of the special summary revision of the voter list to delete bogus entries and enrol new voters.
The programme will be held for 45 days in the city. Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar who launched the the programme in Hyderabad on Sunday said voter purification was a major challenge in the city.
In the verification programme citizens can rectify errors like spelling mistakes, wrong photographs, address change among others in the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC). He said the election staff along with the RWAs will participate in the verification programme to minimise the errors.
The CEO said that a person born prior to January 1, 2001, can apply in advance for the voter enrolment. He said that during the previous enrolment programme which was held from September 2018 to March 2019, 48 lakh voters had been enrolled in the voters list.
