Hyderabad: Mega stent plant set up in state
The project will come up in three phases, according to officials.
Hyderabad: Over one million stents are stated to be manufactured per year in India’s biggest medical device plant at Sangareddy whose facilities are expected operational from September next year. The park which was inaugurated in Sultanpur at Sangareddy will host the Sahajanand Medical Technologies, which will be the biggest Indian manufacturing device unit.
The project will come up in three phases, according to officials. The first unit of the company will manufacture stents, the second one is meant for specialised balloons which are used in cardiac surgery and the third facility will be dedicated to research and development.
The stent manufacturing unit is being given priority and operations will start in 12 months. The other units will be completed by September 2024. The stent manufacturing unit is expected to create 600 jobs while the complete unit in phases will generate over 2,200 jobs. An investment of Rs 250 cores will be required for the project. Health minister Etala Rajender and industry minister Ch Malla Reddy performed the bhoomi puja on Sunday.
