Bengaluru: Two women were allegedly harassed, abused and assaulted by an autorickshaw driver near Garuda Mall on Sunday night.
The complainant took to social media to bring it to the notice of the police. She posted the photograph of the accused diver on the Bengaluru police official page.
The victim also uploaded a video of the driver misbehaving with them and also gave the registration number of the vehicle. The complainant sought help from the police and urged them to arrest the guilty driver and suspend his driving licence.
Her post said that she and her woman friend came out of Garuda Mall on Sunday evening and were walking on the footpath when they noticed an auto driver staring at them. When she questioned him, he misbehaved with them and passed lewd comments.
The police, who have taken note of the complaint, have registered a suo motu case and launched a hunt for the driver.
DCP (Central) Devraj said that the police are checking the CCTV footage near Garuda Mall. “We have obtained vehicle details from the RTO and traced it to Govindapura. The accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
