Revanth Reddy's aides quizzed
I-T officials clarified that no operations are carried out on a Sunday and the I-T wing wasn't involved in this search.
Hyderabad: The income-tax department which raided the properties of Congress working president A. Revanth Reddy last week questioned his close aide Uday Simha and a relative, Kondal Reddy, on Monday. The raids were on the suspicion that Nr Revanth Reddy was evading taxes. Mr Kondal Reddy is one of the promoters of Sri Sai Mourya Estate and Projects Pvt Ltd, in which the I-T department has detected a suspicious transaction of Rs 10 crore.
Uday Simha informed the I-T officials that last Sunday, 15 men, who identified themselves as tax officials searched the house of his relative Ranadhir Reddy in LB Nagar and took away Rs 2 lakh in cash and eight tolas in gold ornaments. I-T officials clarified that no operations are carried out on a Sunday and the I-T wing wasn’t involved in this search. Uday Simha and Ranadhir Reddy then lodged a complaint at the LB Nagar police station.
It later transpired that the regional task force police had raided the house of Ranadhir Reddy and seized a huge quantum of gold and ornaments. Meanwhile, Congress working president A Revanth Reddy and his close aide Bishop Harry Sebastian have been issued a notice by I-T officials to appear before them on October 3.
