About 12 lakh hectares are under cultivation during Yaasangi (summer crop) and for the first time, the government has to make arrangements in 31 districts.
Reports indicated sowing of 25 per cent of crops like jowar, maize, bajra, horse gram, cowpea, safflower, chillies, onions among others have been completed in 27 districts while three districts 26 per cent to 50 per cent sowing.

With water aplenty thanks to good rains, government expects a good yield this Yaasangi. “We have enough stocks of groundnut seeds. There is no shortage as rumoured. We expect farmers taking up more groundnut cultivation and have made arrangements accordingly. We will ensure farm loans and all the needed inputs,” Mr Srinivas Reddy said.

He added, “We also made arrangements for sale of farm produce and ensure remunerative prices to farmers. We will provide input subsidy soon.”
