Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is waiting for the list from the AP and TS governments to appoint chief electoral officers for both the states.

The state poll chief Bhanwar Lal retired on October 31 and currently, there is no CEO to take care of the election-related works.

At the time of the bifurcation, Bhanwar Lal was the CEO and continued in the post for both the states. A senior officer said that it is not clear whether the CEC will appoint separate CEOs for TS and AP.

Both the AP and TS governments have not finalised the list. The TS government prepared the list but took a decision to keep it pending.

In the TS governments list, names of IAS officers Navin Mittal, Vikas Raj and Shashank Goyal are figured. Sources said that Navin Mittal did not show interest for the CEO post.

The AP government has not prepared the list. Meanwhile, the AP government has written to ECI to appoint additional chief electoral officer Anup Singh (IFS) as temporary CEO.

State governments have to send the lists to the CEC for the selection of CEO. The officials said that the CEC can select one officer sent from the list by the state government.
