Chennai: DVAC raids on sub registrar's office
The official added that many officials have been busy collecting their Deepavali special' gifts.
Chennai: Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) officials carried out a surprise raid at the sub-registrar office at Chengalpattu on Wednesday evening. During the raid, the officials seized Rs 2.87 lakh.
After the DVAC city detachment team led by DSP got a tip that bribes were being collected at the sub-registrar office,10 DVAC sleuths conducted a surprise check at the offices of the Sub registrar’s Kamalesh Kumar and Senthoorapandian. It is learnt that officers including sub-registrars are being questioned and further action will be taken against them based on the outcome of the probe .
DVAC Officials indicated that the raids were aimed at exposing Deepavali bribes. The official added that many officials have been busy collecting their ‘Deepavali special’ gifts. However, Senthoorapandiann said, “no unaccounted cash was seized from the officers.The money was seized from the public and the agents locked inside the office”.
