Thiruvananthapuram: Relief from tech varsity
Its guidelines say both oral and written exams are mandatory, but separate minimum marks are not necessary for a pass.
Thiruvananthapuram: APJ Abdul Kalam University has decided not to regulate oral exam marks of the comprehensive examination in line with the performance of the written exam for B. Tech.
Its guidelines say both oral and written exams are mandatory, but separate minimum marks are not necessary for a pass.
The University had on October 8 published the result of the S6 exams held in April after regulating the oral exam marks in line with the written exam marks as per clause 7 (O) of B.Tech regulation. However, the order clarified that the revision of results would not be a precedent.
After the declaration of the results, it came to the notice that many students who secured the required pass minimum and cleared all subjects up to the fifth semester had failed in the Comprehensive Examination.
On a detailed verification, it was found that the same has happened due to the implementation of the rule regarding the regulation of internal marks as in the theory exams.
As defined in the curriculum, the comprehensive examination is neither a theory course nor a practical course. It was in this context that higher education principal secretary Usha Titus who was holding the charge of the vice-chancellor issued a notification to this effect.
