Despite ban overturn, police preach caution
Hyderabad: While the public and owners of pubs were a relieved lot after the ban on loud music was overturned, the police preached caution, urging establishments to take precautions to not disturb their neighbourhoods.
They said that in the interim period of the ban, they held awareness drives before registering cases and that many other bars and restaurants have also started taking steps to minimise noise pollution.
The police said that operations of pubs in Jubilee Hills will be reviewed after they get a copy of the High Court judgment.
“GHMC has already demarcated residential and commercial areas in the city. Accordingly, we will ensure the orders are complied with,” a senior police official said.
Officials also warned pub managements of strict action if their activities disturb neighbourhoods. “Now that the music issue is taken care of by the court, we will continue to focus on the traffic menace by the visitors,” another police official said.
There are around 20 pubs in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills, while there are 25 such establishments in Cyberabad.
