AP CM working for round-the-clock power supply: Official
Vijayawada: Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand on Thursday said the Government of India had set an ambitious target of a 45 per cent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030. Accordingly, all states, including Andhra Pradesh, are preparing action plans.
Vijayanand was speaking at a one-day workshop on the final validation of the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan (SEEAP) at the Vidyut Soudha in Vijayawada.
He said as per the report of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), SEEAP will provide strategies for industry, transport, agriculture, fisheries, and building sectors to save approximately Rs8,000 crore through energy efficiency to meet AP’s energy savings target.
Vijayanand said, “Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and energy minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy are giving the highest priority for 24x7 quality and cost-effective power, which is vital for industrial and overall economic development of the state. Energy efficiency and conservation play a significant role in this regard, apart from reducing environmental pollution.”
AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) CEO B.A.V.P. Kumara Reddy said in coordination with various departments, they are identifying the energy-saving potential in the state. They will then focus on energy efficiency-related investments, which will help improve energy performance in key sectors, boost the economy, create employment, and contribute to environmental protection.
