Mangaluru: A meeting focussing on advancing tourism and bolstering the IT sector in Mangaluru is likely to be held post the ongoing festivals.
The meeting is slated to be attended by relevant Ministers and officials from the respective departments.

"Our aim is to enhance both the tourism and IT landscape in the region. We will assess the previously designated land for establishing IT units and take necessary steps to boost the sector. Our emphasis will also be on nurturing environmentally friendly industries in this area," Health Minister and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao told reporters in Mangaluru Wednesday.

Dinesh Gundu Rao disclosed that he has engaged in discussions with Tourism Minister HK Patil and IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge regarding this initiative.

"After the festive season, we plan to convene a meeting with the participation of Ministers and officials of the departments concerned. This could potentially take place either here in Mangaluru or during the upcoming session in Belagavi," he added.

Dinesh Gundu Rao also highlighted the ample opportunities for sports in the region, highlighting proposals for the establishment of cricket and football stadiums, as well as a golf course in the area.
