Chennai: It is not the Chennai rains, but the foggy condition at the country’s capital that altered the flight schedules at Chennai airport on Thursday. A total of nine flights suffered delay while a few flights were suspended, as dense fog shrouded New Delhi, for the second consecutive day. Flights operating from Delhi were delayed due to poor visibility, said airport sources.

Five flights from Delhi to Chennai and four of them from Chennai to Delhi were delayed for over four hours as a result. Operations were slightly affected as some flights from Chennai, which are scheduled to take short trips to Tiruchy, Kochi, Bengaluru and Kolkata were cancelled.

A senior airport official said that the situation had improved after 11 am on Thursday. “In Chennai, there were no squally winds and the visibility was good too. So, no services was affected due to it,” he confirmed later on in the day.
