NIT to help TSRTC to improve its efficiency

WARANGAL URBAN: The TSRTC has signed a a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institute of Technology for consultancy services from the institute for a period of five years.

As per the agreement, the NIT would help the RTC improve its efficiency, adapt latest technology and bring down the losses in various wings. The institute would undertake detailed study and research in various wings of the corporation and make suitable recommendations as and when needed.
In turn, the institute would also impart field training to its students and research scholars utilising the resources available with the corporation.
Speaking on the occasion, TSRTC chairman S. Satyanarayana said though the organisation was fuel efficient, the RTC still incurred losses to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore in its operations in Hyderabad city and in rural areas of the state.
“As this is a public sector undertaking and people-oriented, the corporation cannot revise its fare as and when wanted. We need to take into consideration several aspects before revising our tariff. We are currently focusing on improving our efficiency with the help of NIT through this MoU,” he explained.
The TSRTC chairman also said the RTC covers 36 lakh km transporting 90 lakh people to their destinations every day. It was also focusing on introducing new services. He said the RTC would soon introduce mini air conditioned buses between Warangal and Hyderabad.
