Film Employees Federation of Kerala seeks proof on drug abuse
Produce it before govt: Unnikrishnan.
Kochi: Film Employees Federation of Kerala (Fefka) on Sunday asked the Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) to present evidence to substantiate their claim of rampant drug use in the industry instead of placing everybody under the shadow.
“They have to come out with evidence or a name to prove their stand instead of putting everyone under suspicion,” B. Unnikrishnan, its general secretary, told DC.
“If they have evidence, they should produce it before the government, and it will take action.”
The KFPA had alleged rampant drug abuse on film sets, especially amo-ng young actors. They also welcomed a probe by the police and excise department.
Earlier, actor Salim Kumar also slammed the KFPA for raising these types of allegations. He said that this was like defaming all of them.
Meanwhile, Fefka decided to intervene in the issue related to actor Shane Nigam accused of “indiscipline.”
Mr Unnikrishnan said that the Fefka would send a letter to the KFPA to take the initiative to complete the two films they shelved.
“There are a lot of art-ists and technicians inv-olved in these movies, not just Shane. If he has committed any mistake, it is our responsibility to make him understand through possible means. A discussion is very important for this,” he said.
The KFPA had earlier made it clear that there will not be any change in its stance on Shane. They didn't ban the star but decided not to cooperate with any of his movies.
