Technical snag halts land registrations AP; loss in crores
State loses crores, says officials
Visakhapatnam: The registration process across AP came to a halt on Friday morning as the new software CARD 2.O developed a technical snag. It was not known when the problem would be rectified, said a senior sub-registrar here.
He said eKYC could not be done. The problem might have caused a loss of crores to the government on a single day. The state is expecting to generate '9,500 crore this financial year, according to the sources.
The Stamps and Registration department introduced the Card 1.O version in 1999 and it was upgraded keeping in view the growing needs of the people. The new version Card 2.O was implemented across the state from September 15.
Under the new system, a document gets generated once information regarding land or property is entered into the Revenue department’s online platform.
The software’s draft document can be reviewed and modified before the final submission, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The online application is reviewed by sub-registrars before granting authorisation.
When the up-gradation was proposed, the document writers feared it might not be fool-proof.
“Even after the introduction of the new version, much of the work is done by the document writers. They prepare the documents and upload them,’’ said a local document writer.
About the loss, he said Visakhapatnam district generated Rs 7 to Rs 10 crore on an average every day through its five sub-registrar offices.
