Hyderabad: Police arrested a 33-year-old man who had started cultivating ganja in his flat in Manikonda. Police said Syed Shahed Husain had learnt the technique of cultivating ganja indoors from online platforms on the advice of a friend that he had made over Facebook.
Police said Hussain, a former bank employee, was addicted to ganja and had later turned a trader in the narcotic. He used to procure the drug from Tandur for Rs 3,500 per kg and sell it in Hyderabad at Rs 16,000 per kg.
Three months ago, he contacted a USA-based Facebook friend, identified as Garith Christopher, for suggestions on grow the plant indoors, police said.

“On Christopher’s suggestions, he checked methods to grow ganja indoors, procured the required material and started cultivating the plant in pots in his flat three months ago,” Task Force additional DCP N. Koti Reddy said.
