Hyderabad: Unkept toilets get no visitor'
People do not bother to to use the toilets as they are not properly maintained thoughcivic officials say cleaning teams have been assigned.
Hyderabad: The GHMC has placed several prefabricated green toilets at different pockets of the city as they were easy to set up. These toilets are not properly maintained.
At Sitaphalmandi, many people don’t bother entering the toilet to relieve themselves. Mr Raghuram, a resident of Manikeshwarnagar, said, “The toilets are not maintained properly. There are no lights, and there is no water.”
Mr N. Ravi Kiran, additional commissioner, health and sanitation, said, “We have informed the local cleaning teams to maintain the toilets. A separate vehicle has been assigned and dedicated to clean these booths at regular intervals.”
Regulars, however, know that this has not been happening. A toilet at Mirjalguda, Malkajgiri, was left abandoned for more than a month, said Mr Rajkumar, a flower shop owner.
“Very few people use it. We keep noticing it the whole day. At least eight out of 10 people just don’t enter it. The officials should have deployed a person to inform people about ways of using it.”
