Hyderabad: Water-logged roads remind citizens of July
Those who had to cover long distances decided to stay back in office till the traffic cleared rather than be stuck in a car for many hours.
Hyderabad: The unseasonal rain on Wednesday caused water logging at Hitec City, Uppal, Alwal, Tarnaka, Yapral, Kukatpally and many other places.
From the U-turn at I Labs to Nectar Garden there was water logging and GHMC teams were working to clear it. The water on the road was black, showing that silt from the drains had come out on the road.
It takes just a small amount of rainfall for the road near Erragadda Metro Rail station to be water logged as there is nowhere for the water to drain out. This badly affects traffic movement on the Ameerpet- Erragadda stretch.
The rain threw traffic out of gear. The showers started at 5 pm and led to traffic jams in Balanagar, Rasoolpura, Prakashnagar, Lakdikapul, Masab Tank, Hitec City, Gachibowli and other places. It took more than an hour to cross Rani Gunj, Paradise, Begumpet and junctions of Lakdikapul, Tolichwoki and beyond.

Social media was abuzz with the way the choked drains were leading to silt coming onto the road, making driving difficult. Netizens complained that less than one hour of rain had made them unuseable, and requested the government to give utmost importance to maintenance of roads.
