The education sector has got no benefits on the ground, say parents.

“As I walked in now, I see a lot of excitement all around because your finance minister is presenting the national budget. In my country, the annual budget happens around October and there is lot of attention given to education and infrastructure development. The Malaysian government has been developing education at all levels, from the primary to tertiary, besides taking sustained efforts towards making us an international hub for higher education.

There are huge allocations to the infrastructure development, particularly the transportation sector. Much water has flown since the Kuala Lumpur International Airport expressway was built in 1995 and the express train could take you across the 55 km from the airport into KL city in 28 minutes. We have a terrific network of roads across the country, and the work goes on and on. This potent combination of education and infra that you find among the top priorities in Malaysian Budget is the key to the country’s development.

Seldom do we come across an unemployed graduate from my university, particularly in my department of highway and transportation in the civil engineering stream. Top companies grab our students even before they complete the final exams. This has become possible only because of the government's sustained thrust on education and infrastructure.”
