COIMBATORE: The sensational murder case of the Hindu Munnani (HM) spokesperson Sasikumar, which rocked the textile city of Coimbatore, has been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), sources told DC here.

Sasikumar was murdered by a four-member gang at Subramaniampalayam near Thudiyalur close to his house on September 22, 2016. Despite deploying eight special teams, the case remained static and within a week, the probe was handed over to the CB-CID, it may be recalled. After nearly a year-long search, they arrested 27-year-old Saddam Hussain from Karumathampatty in the suburbs of Coimbatore in August 2017.

On interrogating Saddam, alleged to be one of the four assailants, CB-CID personnel arrested Zubair, 33, resident of Ukkadam and Mubaraq, 37, a resident of Saibaba Colony.

Even as investigation on the whereabouts of the other persons involved in the murder was on, the case has now been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at Kochi.

A team of NIA officials led by their SP, Kumar came down to Coimbatore on Friday to collect the case files and details. They are yet to interrogate the three accused.
