Demoted DySPs plan to petition high court
The government has demoted 11 DySPs facing disciplinary action to the rank of circle inspectors.
Kochi: The 11 DySPs demoted by the state government plan to challenge the decision in the High Court. Sources close to the affected officials said they were likely to move the HC on Monday citing the decision as against the rules.
The government has demoted 11 DySPs facing disciplinary action to the rank of circle inspectors. The government has also promoted 26 circle inspectors to the rank of DySPs. The home secretary had recommended to the chief minister handling the home department to demote 12 DySPs. One of them had approached the administrative tribunal against the recommendation and managed to receive a favourable order.
The decision to demote the officials was taken in the backdrop of the government quashing a section in the Kerala Police Act allowing promotion for officials facing department-level action and allegations.
