Prasad theatre did not reduces ticket prices despite the reduction of GST.
Hyderabad: The anti-profiteering wing of the Hyderabad GST commissionerate found that Prasad cinema had not reduced the price of tickets, which stood at Rs 150 for Screens 1 to 5 and Rs 250 for Screen 6.
The GST Council had reduced the tax on tickets costing more than Rs 100 to 18 per cent and to 12 per cent on tickets lower than Rs 100.
The personnel collected sample tickets from three multiplexes and found that while Prasad theatre had not reduced ticket prices, Inox at GVK One and PVR at Punjagutta had done so.
A senior official said anti-profiteering measures had been initiated against Prasad by the principal commissioner of the Hyderabad GST commissionerate under Section 171 of the CGST Act, 2017. He said all multiplexes and movie theatres should' pass on the benefits of GST reduction to viewers.
