Malappuram: Reiterating his staunch opposition to political alliance with Congress, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said that any compromise in the policies of the left to fight the BJP would lead to losing its credibility among the people. He was inaugurating a seminar on expectations and possibilities of the left held as part of the ongoing state conference of the CPI here.

“The left has a policy which strongly opposes violent communalism and neo liberal policies. This should be strengthened. Compromising this in the name of fighting BJP would be a blow to the left’s integrity,” Vijayan said. “Any kind of patched up political alliance compromising the political identity and communist policy would eventually be a backlash. There several past instances for this,” he pointed out.
