Mohan Babu criticises state on fee reimbursement plan
Claiming that their institution was victimised with the government's non-payment of fees reimbursement dues.
TIRUPATI: Veteran Actor and Sri Vidyaniketan Educational Institutions founder M. Mohan Babu accused the state government for the lacklustre implementation of the fee reimbursement scheme, claiming that their institution was victimised with the government's non-payment of fees reimbursement dues.
Addressing media persons at the college premises in the city on Saturday, Mohan Babu alleged that the state government failed to settle the fee reimbursement dues and their institution is yet to get Rs. 16 crore dues from the government until the 2018-19 academic year.
"During the academic years 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17, the state government failed to clear the fees reimbursement dues fully. They only offered a meagre amount and were treating us like beggars. Our institution is yet to get Rs 16 crore extending up to academic year 2018-19. There were several representations made but there is no response from the government end," he said.
Claiming that their institution has been offering free education to 25 per cent of the students for the last 26 years, Mohan Babu alleged that due to the lacklustre implementation of fee reimbursement scheme by Mr Naidu's government, the institution is being troubled to pay salaries and wages to the staff since a long time.
"At present we are obtaining loan from banks by mortgaging our assets to run the institution, which needs Rs 6 crore per month to continue its operations. Though the government had failed to settle the dues, we are paying the salaries to our employees on time with the loans obtained from banks. Over the last 26 years, we never compromised on the institution standards in providing quality education," he maintained.
Recalling that former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy used to offer ample importance to fee reimbursement scheme, Mohan Babu said that during YSR regime none of the educational institutions faced any issue over the payments and now the situation is no more the same after Telugu Desam rode to power in the state.
