Chennai: MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Saturday  demanded the withdrawal of charges for viewing the world famous sculptures in Mamallapuram and said he would lead a protest demonstration on  April 6 to press for the demand.

He said the archaeological department had fixed a charge of Rs 30 for Indians and Rs 500 for visitors from Saarc countries and Rs 750 for Europeans, Australians and Americans. Besides, Rs 1 lakh per day will be collected for shooting films in the area and Rs 50,000  per day for shooting short films.
