Pawan Kalyan likely to resume acting in films soon
Jana Sena chief is on vacation abroad at present; will start working to earn money for family.
Rajahmundry: As the electoral prospects of Jana Sena Party, led by Pawan Kalyan, are expected to be not so high, except to support whichever party gets a good number of legislators, to help it form the government in the state and given his liabilities worth Rs 33 crore, including personal loans from film personalities, film production houses and family members against assets worth Rs 52 crore, Mr Kalyan may resume acting in the films soon to earn money to support himself and his family members.
Though Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan was having high expectations that his party could fare well in the polls, with the support from BSP and the Leftists, after conduct of elections on April 11, he realised that his party will not get good number of MLAs and MPs to form a government on its own.
Jana Sena party sources said that the party leadership itself had an official estimation of securing 30 to 40 MLAs and two to three MPs in the state. But the party may not secure even the estimated number of MLAs and MPs, following a series of lapses ranging from selection of candidates to contest in the polls to reaching out to the voters to seek their support.
Party sources said that the party leadership also drew flak for allowing some leaders to join the party just a few days before the polls and promote them in a huge way despite their credentials being not good. Some leaders flayed the party leadership for denying tickets to them to contest in the polls even as they served the party loyally for so long.
After the conduct of polls, the party leadership began to shut down some of its offices in Vijayawada and Hyderabad as a cost cutting measure and failed to turn down the public criticism that the party was winding up its functioning due to poor performance in the polls. Some party leaders started to maintain distance from the party while some even announced to quit.
Jana Sena’s official spokesperson Addepalli Sridhar, who used to take part in TV debates aggressively to defend the party and its leader before the polls, informed the party leadership that he is not going to be an active member in the party. He was denied the ticket to contest from Rajahmundry Urban Assembly segment.
Similarly, party treasurer Marisetti Raghavaiah quit the JS’s primary membership and all other posts of the party and so is the case with another leader Arjun Chintapalli, who used to make arrangements for conduct of public meetings for the party chief all over the state, on Thursday.
The 50-year-old actor-turned-politician, in his affidavit filed before returning officer to contest in polls, mentioned that his sources of income include professional fee for acting in films, agriculture income and interest on bank deposits and also mentioned that his income had come down to Rs 9.60 crore in 2017-18 when compared to Rs 15.28 crore earned in 2016-17.
