Re-poll in 3 booths in Nellore, Prakasam
In this case, several voters could not exercise their franchise as one of the EVMs went into sleep mode intermittently.
Nellore: Officials are gearing up to hold re-polling in two polling booths in Nellore district and one in Prakasam district on May 6.
Problems with EVMs pertaining to Tirupati Parliament constituency at Polling Station No. 197 in Atakanitippa, which is part of Sullurpeta segment, and Polling Station No. 41 related to Nellore Parliament segment in Pallepalem of Kovur constituency led the Election Commission to order the re-poll.
The EVMs stopped functioning after 33 votes were polled in Kovur and 263 votes in Sullurpet. Both the polling stations pertain to Parliament constituencies.
In case of Prakasam district, re-poll is being held at polling station No 247 at Kalanuthala in Yarragondapalem constituency for both assembly and Ongole parliament segments.
In this case, several voters could not exercise their franchise as one of the EVMs went into sleep mode intermittently. This led the voters to wait for their turn till midnight.
However the machine went into sleep mode once for all after midnight. Only 800 votes were polled out of 1,170 till then and 40 to 50 people were waiting in the queue at that point of time.
District collector V. Vinay Chand has appealed to political parties to cooperate to hold the re-polling.
