Easier to meet country heads than Telangana CM: Dr Tamilisai
Hyderabad: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday in a sharp attack on the state government, said “it is easy to meet the heads of countries but not the head of this state”.
The Governor’s comments came in the wake of the Raj Bhavan not receiving an invitation for last Sunday’s inauguration of the new state Secretariat. She was speaking at an event in Gachibowli on Wednesday. She said, “While countries can come closer, it is very unfortunate that the Raj Bhavan and Pragathi Bhavan cannot do so.”
She added: “It is unfortunate that we cannot come closer for the sake of this country.”
The Governor also said when she came to Telangana, she did so to work for the people and serve them. “Some people only talk, they don’t do anything,” she added.
Dr Tamilisai also took aim at the state government for not extending an invitation for attending the inauguration of the new state Secretariat complex. “A very big Secretariat has been opened but there was no invitation for the first citizen. There should be an open mind. Nobody is for self, whether it is the Chief Minister or Governor or the council of ministers. They are not for self but for the state and the country,” she said.
It may be recalled that earlier, minister G. Jagadish Reddy had on Monday said that the Governor, and others including MLAs and MPs were extended invitations for the Secretariat’s inauguration as per protocol. Soon after, Raj Bhavan officials had made it clear that no such invitation was received by the Governor’s office.
