Rajahmundry: YSR Congress chief Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy carried out his padayatra as part of Praja Sankalp Yatra by covering a distance of 2,227 km in 178 days in parts of Palacole Assembly segment in West Godavari on Saturday.
The party leaders and activists wearing black badges took part in a protest march called ‘Vanchana Pi Garjana’ flaying the TD government for taking up Nava Nirmana Deeksha to mark bifurcation of the state. As Jagan was taking part in his padayatra covering villages including Jinnuru, Mataparru, Kavitam and other villages in Palacole segment, a delegation from Mala Mahanadu headed by its state president G. Surya Vara Prasad submitted a representation explaining about the problems being faced by dalits in allotment of funds under SC and ST Sub Plan.
Later, Jagan met woman handloom workers and gave a patient hearing to their woes and assured to provide them Rs 2,000 per month to invest in their business once their party was elected to power in the ensuing polls.
Farmers met Jagan at Kavitam and informed him that they failed to get proper water supply for cultivation of second crop and express-ed their concern by saying that though they managed to cultivate crops despite facing hardships, they were not getting remunerative price for their produce in the market.
At Jagannadhapuram, a delegation from BC welfare union met Jagan and informed him that the party which could provide 50% reservation to them in legislature, their support would be extended in their ensuing polls. They sounded confident that once YSR Congress was elected to power, their problems would be sorted out similar on the lines of late CM YSR Reddy to come to their rescue by initiating several welfare schemes for the benefit of BC communities.
