Odisha train mishap: More than 100 passengers from AP might have been killed
Visakhapatnam: More than 100 passengers bound to various destinations in Andhra Pradesh might have perished in the three-train crash accident that occurred on Friday evening near Bahanaga railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district.
"As per initial reports, there will be more than 100 deaths both in Coramandel and Yashwantpur Express. We have confirmation of 50 deaths,’’ a senior railway official from Waltair Division told Deccan Chronicle.
As per the list provided by the Waltair Division 364 passengers were travelling on the train to various destinations in Andhra Pradesh.
"We are receiving frequent calls from various places inquiring about their family members travelling on the ill-fated train. Visakhapatnam city has more than a lakh Bengali families and relatives of many from north Andhra who work in railways in Kharagpur, Santaragachi and Shalimar.
Two senior officials from the State Arun Kumar and joint collector of Srikakulam Naveen have left for Balasore on the instruction of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
