'GST country's biggest reform'
It has been brought back after 15 years with the wholehearted support of the people.
Thiruvananthapuram: Union minister of science and technology and environment Harsh Vardhan termed the Goods and Services Tax as the biggest reforms the country had ever seen.
Speaking at a special conclave organised by the industrial cell of the BJP here, he said it was during former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s tenure that it was first proposed.
It has been brought back after 15 years with the wholehearted support of the people. “GST can be seen as a single tax under a market. It is pure politics that those leaders who were a part of it criticising GST now. Kerala’s finance minister T. M. Thomas Isaac too had actively participated in GST council meetings,” he said.
The Union minister also felicitated the IAS rank holders. BJP MLA O. Rajagopal, organising secretary M. Ganesh, spokesperson J. R. Padmakumar and others attended.
