Hyderabad wears a new look

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation demolished 1,724 footpath encroachments on the concluding day of the drive. The total number of encroachments removed touched 4,669 during the three day of the special drive. 

Owners of commercial establishments voluntarily removed 550 footpath encroachments on Monday. K.T. Rama Rao, municipal administration and urban development minister,  congratulated the efforts of civic body officials and asked them to ensure that the cleared spaces are maintained as they are to take up the construction of footpaths immediately.

Mr Rama Rao, through his twitter handle said, ‘Good job director enforcement with the crackdown on encroachments. Continue in the same spirit. @arvindkumar_ias @Commissionr GHMC to immediately start footpath construction wherever the drive has been undertaken. Also make sure that the cleared spaces are maintained as they are".(sic)
