Fix Miralam tank boundaries: Telangana High Court
While ordering a joint survey, the judge directed status quo to be maintained in respect of the petitioners’ properties.
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court directed the state revenue and irrigation departments on Tuesday to conduct a joint survey to fix the boundaries of full tank level limits of Miralam tank, particularly at Attapur of Rajendranagar mandal.
Justice P. Naveen Rao issued these directions while dealing with a batch of petitioners including Masqati Dairy Products Ltd, and many other plastic recycling units who are allegedly carrying out commercial activities near and in the buffer zone and tank bed area of the tank.
The petitioners sought a direction to restrain revenue authorities and officials of other departments who were unilaterally demolishing their properties, stating that the occupied land falls in the buffer zone and tank bed area.
While ordering a joint survey, the judge directed status quo to be maintained in respect of the petitioners’ properties.
He ordered the petitioners not to construct anymore until further orders by the court.
The court directed revenue officials to conduct the survey along with irrigation and command area development department to mark the limits of FTL and buffer zone on July 31 and submit the report to the court on August 8. The revenue authorities declared the premises occupied by these units as lake bed and buffer zone area and issued notices to 23 owners of units carrying out commercial activities at Hasannagar of Attapur village.
