Hyderabad: 28 held in cordon & search at RGIA

The drive was intended to find out if any illegal activities or unauthorised activities were being carried out in the premises.

Hyderabad: As many as 16 suspects and 12 illegal  touts were taken into custody by the Cyberabad police in a cordon and search operation at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport premises during the early hours on Tuesday.

According to a Cyberabad police official, a team of about 130 police personnel including Shamshabad deputy commissioner of police N. Prakash Reddy took part in the cordon and search operation which was conducted at the international departure area.

The drive was intended to find out if any illegal activities or unauthorised activities were being carried out in the premises.

During the operation, about 12 persons, who were illegally touting for passengers without taking prior permission from the police and other concerned departments. Their 12 cars were seized and handed over to the traffic police for further action.

Elsewhere at the airport, 16 persons who were moving under suspicious conditions on the premises were also taken into custody to verify their identity and to take necessary action, said the police.

The arrival area at the airport and the lodges nearby were also checked to find if any anti-social activities were taking place, said the police.
