Muslim League MLA buys time from NDA

Thiruvananthapuram: The Assembly witnessed charges of collusion between N. Shamsudheen of the Muslim League and NDA members P.C. George and O. Rajgopal on Tuesday.

This incident happened during the discussions on the appropriation Bill. George had given a letter to the legislative secretariat saying that the time allotted to the NDA was being transferred to Shamsudeen.

The CPM members alleged that it was a logical extension of the secret understanding between the two during the elections.

However, Shamsudheen explained that it was only an act of friendship and nothing else. He added that he did it with the concurrence of the parliamentary party leader of the Muslim League.

A. Pradeepkumar of the CPM, who raised the issue, said it was not by using NDA's time that the League should show off its greatness.

T.V. Rajesh (CPM) said that those who bought the votes of the BJP during the elections were carrying forward their understanding. Though they pretended to be foes outside, the undercurrents were evident, he said.

M. Swaraj (CPM) said that during walkouts, P.T. Thomas of the Congress and O. Rajagopal always went out together. The present situation was an extension of this understanding, he said.

The Assembly was disrupted for four minutes during the discussions as C.K. Asha, CPM MLA from Vaikom, felt uneasiness. She was given medical assistance and taken out of the House. Asha, who entered the House while I.B. Sathish was speaking, had bumped her leg onto a table.
